The 2011/2012 National County Sports Meet was played on Saturday and Sunday, December 3 and 4, 2011 across the country with more exciting results. On Saturday, Grand Gedeh defeated Grand Kru by 2-1 in football at the Zwedru Sports Pitch in Grand Gedeh County in a region-three fixture.
In the other match of the group, River Gee and Maryland Counties settled to a 1-1 draw.
In the kickball encounter, defending champions Maryland County “white washed” River Gee County by 24-3 home runs (innis).
At the Doris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, it ended scoreless between Grand Bassa and Margibi Counties in a region one soccer clash.
Also in region two, Montserrado County dragged Bomi County by 2-0 in Tubmanburg in the soccer, but Bomi went on to win the kickball match 13-3 home runs (innis).
In the other fixture of the region, Gbarpolu defeated Grand Cape Mount County by similar score line at the same venue.
Bong County also suffered a 1-0 at the hands of defending County in front several thousands of its fans in a region four clash played in Gbarnga City. Bong however, won the kickball match by 8-2 home runs (innis).
Meanwhile, the tournament continues today, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at various venues across the country.
